From a long-time Illinois collection, this unique stoneware vase features an alkaline glaze and incised designs throughout. A corresponding note inside the vessel states "The pottery was made in the 1920s by a black man named Moses in Mississippi." The piece clearly has southern origins with similar clay examples from Mississippi and Alabama. A unique piece, likely worthy of even further research. A great addition to any collection of southern stoneware and pottery! Measures approx 10.5 inches tall and remain in excellent condition.
