19th century Pennsylvania watchmakers trade sign to market that was recently discovered
The double-sided sign measures a a staggering 37 inches tall x 30 inches wide, primarily constructed of wood with an iron handle containing an 1877 patent date. Original green, gold, white, and black paint. All original! The last picture shows what the sign looked like upon its discovery.
Charles Holes was an active jeweler in the Ridgway, Pennsylvania (Elk County) from approx 1870-1900. After his death in 1902, his son Frank took over the business. We found several advertisement clippings in The Elk County Advocate.
