A rare and highly desirable 19th century carved wooden butter print, depicting a boldly rendered War Eagle accompanied by a shield motif, symbolizing strength, protection, and national identity. The eagle is dynamically carved in profile, its body and wings articulated through flowing, rhythmic cuts that convey motion and authority.
The surrounding field is enriched with crisp foliate carving, while the reverse retains its original knobbed handle, giving the piece a compact and purposeful form. Butter prints with explicit patriotic or martial symbolism are particularly scarce, making this an exceptional example.
