An outstanding early Plains male doll, measuring approximately 13 inches tall, constructed of native-tanned hide and fully dressed in a two-piece fringed outfit. The shirt and leggings are decorated with striking lanes of red glass seed beads, arranged in V- and vertical patterns down the front and sides, with additional beaded edging at the cuffs and hems.
The doll is firmly stuffed and retains an appealing dry patina throughout, with good evidence of handling and age. Its bold proportions and heavy use of beadwork suggest an early date, likely late 19th to early 20th century.
