Extremely Rare Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Incised Floral Decoration, and Inscribed & Presented to “M Knecht/1892”.  An exceptional example of Remmey presentation stoneware. Measures a short, approx 1/2 gallon, 9 inches tall. In excellent condition with one small stone pop to the back side, always excellent. No repairs or restorations present.

This pitcher is believed to have been made for Michael Knecht of Salisbury, Maryland. He immigrated from Germany to Maryland in the 1870s and set up a blacksmith shop in West Salisbury, Maryland in 1880. He established M KNECHT & SONS, a successful foundry that produced iron and machine products. He became a well regarded businessman in the area, and in 1892 purchased the Salisbury Foundry.
