
An exceptional piece of early Americana & Folk Art! This small lift lid box - likely a valuables box - retains its original red surface and has survived in excellent condition. The box features detailed carvings to all sides (except the base). On the ends of the box once can find a detailed large tulip motif relief carved into the box, iconic of Pennsylvania-Dutch design. The face of the box features a scrolled carving with a pinwheel or hex in the sign. The top of the box features a detailed floral motif carving. Constructed of white pine. Constructed with rose head, square nails. Measures 11 inches x 5.5 inches deep x 6 inches tall.
