One of the scarcest pieces of American Civil War ephemera we've been honored to offer. This book, titled US Infantry & Rifle Tactics, is identified to Thos. N Chandler of Company K of the 150th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. Inside the cover is inscribed, 'THOS N. CHANDLER / COMPANY K / 150TH REG PA V'. The second page is inscribed in pencil:
"Thos. N Chandler / Company K 150th Regt / Penna. Vols / Camp at "Soldiers House" Near Washington DC / Sept. 18th 1862"
On September 5th, 1862, Company K of the 150th Regiment Pennsylvania was assigned to Soldiers Home and stayed with President Lincoln for the remainder of the war.
This detailed article HERE provides a great overview of the companies history with Lincoln.
The book has survived in excellent condition with all pages intact. Very good dark green cloth covered book and measures approx 5 3/8" by 3 2/3".
