An exceptional American folk art game-of-chance wheel, painted in red, black, and ochre and personalized with the names of its original participants around the perimeter. A series of evenly spaced brass pegs surrounds the central spinning indicator, creating a striking combination of graphic lettering, mechanical ingenuity, and communal history. Both mysterious and visually commanding, it is a superb piece of nineteenth-century vernacular Americana.
Dimensions: Approx 23 inches in diameter, constructed on a think 1 1/2 inch pine board.
Condition: Surviving in excellent condition with age expected wear, original paint, and the original iron mount.
