An intriquing carved bust of a monk or saint, likely made at one time for a devotional display. The carving has incredible folk art charecter with oversized eyes & sharply cut hair with an original worn paint. Under the bust reads S.M o D E. In a religious context, S.M. is the Latin post-nominal abbreviation for the Societas Mariae. 

Measures approx 14 inches tall x 6 inches wide.
