An impressively scaled, shallow basketry tray with a richly composed geometric design worked in dark brown against a warm golden-tan ground. A closely patterned inner register encircles the plain central field, while stepped triangular motifs radiate outward toward bold angular devices along the rim. The interplay of dark pattern and open ground creates a rhythmic composition that follows the tray’s broad, gently rising form.
Attributed to the Yokuts, California, circa 1890–1920.
Dimensions: 22 inches in diameter × 3 inches high.
Condition: Good overall condition, with localized breaks along the rim, including one area extending approximately one inch into the body.
