This rare exhibit includes the presentation sword and personal belongings including letters, map, pocket dairies of 1864 & 1865, personal books, and ledgers of Captain William C Reeder. Also included is a full portfolio on Captain Reeder, including his service history.
Reeder enlisted on 12/15/1862 at Murfreesboro, Tennessee as Captain. In 6/16/1883 he was commissioned into Company C of the Kentucky 18th Infantry. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 10/21/1862.
The high grade presentation Non-Regulation Staff & Field sword is 100% complete, marked Clauberg, and inscribed Presnted to Capt W.C. Reeder / By members of his Company for him being a kind and competent officer & that they Respect him as such.
Reeder fought in the battles of Richmond, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, and Bentonville. He was involved in campaigns at Chattanooga, Atlanta, Carolina’s, and Sherman’s March to The Sea.
